jmml, where’s the vowel?

October 1, 2013 Always people want to put a vowel into my business name. It makes sense. In America we use vowels in our words. The story behind my business name is simple. It is my initials – Jeanette Marie Martha Levernier. Whew! It goes like this: when we were in grade school, the nuns would intercept our notes and read them out loud. We thought if we initialed them, they would never know who we were.

The punchline is: I told this story for a few years when I was starting out until the light bulb went off. Of course they knew! Duh!

Everything I have made since the early 90’s has had my jmml stamped somewhere on the piece, usually the back, occasionally texture on the front. Call me a Gucci wannabe. I figure if he can do it, so can I.

I went to the gem show in town over the weekend. Now I’m ready to rock my studio. Pictures to follow.

Musings on a very early Saturday morning.

As bare bones as things are, life is good. Tonight I went to an opening night performance at the Guthrie Theatre. I was offered tickets from a friend who was unable to go. When I take the time to pay attention, good things always happen to me. I do have a guardian angel, big time.

When it was time to move from my previous residence, an opportunity fell into my lap to move into the middle floor of a tri-plex. The owner is jeweler whose tenant decided to move. Yay for me! The best part is, he willingly accepted my three cats, even tho he has a no pet policy. I have an 18 year old, a 12 year old, and a 9 year old. It would be hard to leave your kids behind.

My current place is in a 100 year old building, with hardwood floors, 9′ ceilings, and noises that carry from one apartment to the next. It is a two bedroom, so one of them is dedicated to my studio.

Last night I was setting up a shelving unit on my workbench. Why is it almost harder when you have a blank canvas to decide where things go? I received a batch of new stones to work with. That was the first thing I placed on my new shelves. Life is good.

Blog? What’s a blog?

If you play certain word games on the computer, the word ‘blog’ is not recognized as a real word. So, maybe I should just stick with thoughts.

Who said you can’t be 21 again? I’m sure giving it a shot. The past few years have meant a change of housing, finances, business, etc. The good side: I feel 21 again! No job! No place to live! No bills! No credit! My future in front of me to create. Okay, that might be a bit extreme, a lot of doors have closed, true, quite a few are starting to open. The excitement is building.

This web site for one. I’ve been trying to get it up and running for many years. While it’s not the most difficult thing to do, it just didn’t happen. Thanks to my brother-in-law for saying to me this summer one night around the campfire, “I can help you with that!” And he’s teaching me how simple it is to maintain. Who knew?
